Your Opportunity
Under the general supervision of the Retail Services Coordinator, provides high level customer service to students, staff and the public; handles all functions directly involved in the retail sale of goods; receives and ships material; shelves and prices goods; creates displays to effectively merchandise goods; maintains records concerning cost and inventory control; performs general bookstore tasks; takes digital photos for Photo ID and performs other related duties as required.

Functions and Duties
1. Handles the retail sales of books, stationery and general merchandise by:
- assisting customers in general inquiries and locating items;
- receiving cash and making change;
- ensuring balancing of cash, completion of daily cash records and bank deposits.
2. Shelves goods by maintaining shelf stock at level required and organizing items according to course.

3. Responsible for shipping and receiving material by:
- verifying goods received against internal packing slips to ensure accuracy;
- packing and shipping goods to other campuses;
- preparing internal packing slips.

4. Performs general bookstore duties by:
- handling inquiries and complaints in person and on the telephone concerning bookstore stock, matters of inventory, prices, delivery times, etc.
- typing of overload correspondence, orders, packing slips as required;
- placing orders concerning stock;
- handling mail queries;
- maintaining filing system;
- taking care of daytime custodial duties not performed by maintenance staff;
- preparing invoices for payment;
- maintaining records of merchandise distributed to sponsored students and OC staff.

5. Maintains minimal records concerning inventory control:
- recording goods received, thereby having a record of items on hand at any given time;
- taking annual inventory of goods on hand and recording for core store control.

6. Completes Photo ID sessions by:
- taking quality photos of students and staff;
- electronically transferring all files in appropriate format to Photo ID Clerk for processing.

7. Provides support to both the Retail Services Coordinator and the General Merchandise Buyer; also performs general support duties for other Facilities and Business Services staff during vacation, busy or emergency periods.

8. Performs other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, plus one-year post-secondary education. Over one year and up to and including two years recent retail and cashier experience required.

Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates commitment to retail customer service excellence. Strong customer service skills with ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with internal and external contacts.
- Must take a proactive approach to continually improve the quality of services provided by Campus Stores.
- Creative problem solver.
- Must be flexible and able to manage a high work volume and conflicting priorities in order to meet deadlines.
- Responsive to and capable of providing timely communication on all issues of consequence.
- Team player with an aptitude for working in a collegial and collaborative environment.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office, SCT banner and similar complex databases, as well as the ability to generate and analyze reports and to resolve difficulties with computer input and retrieval.
