Your Opportunity | Under the supervision of the Program Administrator for Youth Programming and the direction of the Campus Program Coordinator the Camp OC Attendant work in collaboration with Camp OC Instructors and Okanagan College Support Staff to support implement the day-to-day operation of Camp OC, a summer day camp program for children and youth aged 5-17 (K-12). The Camp OC Attendant will assist instructors in the classroom with various hands-on activities. Interact with students one on-one and in groups, help supervise children in the classroom and outside, make sure that the activities are carried out in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment as well as relay information to parents about the day’s activities. The Camp OC Attendant is responsible to follow set procedures in the areas of safety, first aid and general operation. This includes, but is not limited to, sign in/out procedures (both in the classroom and in the After Camp Care program), deal with first aid situations, keep confidential information secure and communicate and document important information. The Camp OC Assistant will assist with day-to-day activities and tasks related to the operation of Camp OC. This includes assisting with camp supplies and material, set up and take down of activities, help organize tidy and clean spaces, equipment, and supplies, help in computer-based camps with logins and troubleshooting, assist with supervision during lunch and breaks, help support and welcome the Camp OC volunteers (students grade 8+) and pack up supplies and material, document information and clean up classrooms at the end of summer after camp is over. In the After Camp Care program (not offered at all campuses) the Camp OC Attendant is responsible for carrying out games and activities for the children, sign in and out procedure as well as following set protocols in case of an emergency. |
Functions and Duties | 1. Supervision of OC Summer Camp children and youth (campers) aged 5-17 (K-12). 2. Responsible for following set First Aid, Safety and general operating procedures and protocols. 3. Assist instructors in the classroom with various hands-on activities. Interact with campers and parents as well as with the instructors and other Camp OC staff. 4. Communicate and document any important information as it relates to the campers. 5. Makes sure that the campers’ activities are carried out in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. 6. Assist with day-to-day activities and tasks related to the operation of Camp OC 7. Other related duties as required. |
Education and Experience | Completion of Grade 12 plus preferably related post-secondary education or equivalent. Over 1 year experience working with school aged children and youth (K-12). Must submit a clear Criminal Record Check for children and vulnerable adults and have current First Aid certification or complete provided First Aid course during onboarding. |
