Your Opportunity
Under the general direction of the Director of Library Services, is responsible for coordinating and participating in the delivery of Vernon campus Library reference and instruction services, supervising Vernon Library support staff, and representing the Library in working with campus administrators and support units and in campus committee participation. Other duties include collection development, liaison with one or more instructional departments, participation in Library committees, collaboration with other Librarians, professional development, service, and may include scholarly activity.
Functions and Duties
1. Coordinates Library public services (reference, instruction, circulation, etc.) on the Vernon campus
2. Supervises Vernon Library support staff.
3. Provides reference services, in person, by email, and in a real-time virtual environment.
4. Prepares and delivers instruction to students, in person and in a virtual environment.
5. Prepares guides and tutorials to research and to the use of Library collections and services, using a variety of media and formats.
6. Acts as liaison to one or more instructional departments as appropriate to ensure that Library collections and services meet instructional and student needs.
7. Participates in the development of the library collection by working with the Collections and Metadata Librarian and departmental Library representatives to plan for resource needs and to select books, media and other materials.
8. Contributes to planning and development of Library policies and procedures by participating in the Library Management Committee
9. Represents the Library in working with campus administrators and support units and in campus committee participation and in campus activities.
10. Engages in professional development activity intended to promote subject area and technical competence in librarianship and information science.
11. Engages in service activities that support the College and/or the profession and/or the community.
12. If requested and approved, may engage in scholarly activity, which may include scholarship, research and creative activity.
13. Performs other related Librarian duties as assigned.
14. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Education and Experience
Minimum qualification is a degree from an accredited Master’s program in library and information studies
Experience in the provision of library instruction and reference services.
Experience assisting library users with both print and electronic resources, including creating instructional materials in a variety of formats.
Recent experience in an academic library is preferred.
Supervisory experience is preferred.
Collection development experience is preferred.
Experience coordinating initiatives and integrating concepts related to equity, diversity, inclusion and social justice (EDISJ), accessibility, and/or Indigenization in a library setting is an asset.
Experience with planning and project management is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
· Familiar with, and supportive of, new and emerging technologies in library services and instructional settings
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Ability to facilitate communication and connections among students and faculty
· Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, to assist in the delivery of library services

Schedule
35 hours/week; some evenings and weekend work may be required from time to time.
Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary range $71,846 to $115,129 with normal starting salary between $78,872 and $85,897 annually*, dependent on relevant education and experience. *Note: Part-time Term and summer appointments subject to adjustment factors as per the collective agreement
