Your Opportunity
Under the direction of the Associate Director and in coordination with the Program Administrator and Coordinator, the Camp OC Support Coordinator assists with the operations of Camp OC and other youth programming at Okanagan College.
In collaboration with the Program Coordinator and Program Administrator, the Camp OC Support Coordinator is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Camp OC operational and project work plans, including resource allocation, planning, scheduling, change management, ongoing improvements, and evaluation.
Functions and Duties
1. Support in overseeing operations.

a. Supervise campers at lunch and breaks and help in classrooms when required.
b. Deal with complaints and concerns from parents, instructors, and staff.
c. Ensures internal processes are followed related to Camp OC set-up, such as work orders, IT requests, purchase orders, hiring.
d. Assists in emergency situations such as major first aid and lost child.
e. Adjust camp OC schedule if needed.
f. Build and maintain external and communal relationships and networks.

2. Support Supervisor with the supervision of full time and part time Camp OC team members including the volunteers (grade 9+ students). Provides support, issue resolution, advice, guidance, and training for Camp OC staff:

a. Prioritizes and assigns work daily.
b. Schedules additional staff as required.
c. Addresses and resolves day-to-day work issues.
d. Review and revise, when needed, Camp OC staff timesheets.
e. Assists the Associate Director and Program Administrator with performance management and interpersonal conflict issues within the team.
f. Supports the recruitment and training process for full time and part time Camp OC team members.

3. Safety and wellbeing

Camp OC welcomes all children and staff and promotes diverse and inclusive space.
a. Assists in creating a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all staff and campers.
b. Ensures staffing to minor ratios are sufficient.
c. Makes weather related decisions, such as when to be inside due to smoke, heat, or storms.
d. Collaborates with security when safety concerns arise.
e. Ensures all safety procedures are followed such as Sign in and out, First Aid and Lost child.
f. Assists with campers’ medical alert plans.
g. Addresses unacceptable behaviours such as bullying, conflict between campers, behavioural issues and contacts parents when needed.

4. Assist with managing budgets.

a. Provide suggestions and solutions to budget decisions such as extenuating refunds and purchase requests.
b. Reviews staffing time sheets and makes sure they are correct.
c. Reviews supply and material purchases
d. Makes recommendations regarding extenuating refunds.
Education and Experience
Minimum of Diploma in related field such as Education, Management, Leadership or Administration. Over 2 years related experience, including experience working directly with elementary school children.
Skills and Abilities
· Strong team leadership abilities including interpersonal communication, organization, conflict resolution, consensus-building, change management, interdisciplinary teamwork, relationship management.
· Strong operational and project skills including critical thinking, planning, analytical, written communication, project management, risk management, engagement, policy and procedure development, implementation, evaluation.
· Leads by example, creates positive team culture, demonstrates engagement and service excellence.
· Flexible and adaptable with learning, understanding, and applying new approaches, resources, methodologies, tools, and processes.
· Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, ability to investigate, assess, and escalate issues and problems.
· Highly self-motivated and directed with the ability to work with limited supervision, provide supervision and guidance to others within subject matter expertise area, effectively prioritize and execute tasks balancing multiple relationships and priorities, work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
· Keen attention to detail and a quality driven mindset
