Your Opportunity
In accordance with Letter of Understanding #3 – Research Projects, and under the direct supervision of the College Professor, the Research Assistant assists and supports the supervisor with research-related activities pertaining to Computer Science and Information Technology and within the supervisor’s research areas of interest and expertise.
Functions and Duties
The Research Assistant will assist the supervisor by performing the following duties:
  1. Assists with research for educational purposes.
  2. Assists in identifying prospective subjects for research.
  3. Searches literature sources pertaining to the relevant areas of research. 
  4. Assists in collecting, recording, compiling, summarizing data, and disseminating information through research seminars and research publications. 
  5. Participates in research activities related to the subject area being investigated subject area, such as events, interviews, reading articles and listening to speakers.


Position Specific Functions
6. Participating in applied student research papers reviewing and writing 
7. Support with blogs, e-forums programming and administration 
8. Assist the supervisors in project programming tasks and with the project servers’ maintenance/updates/backups/ect. 
9. Support with documentation development, information gathering and information updates 
10. Support with business applications demonstration 
11.Providing users/clients/participators support 
12. Helping with the promotional campaign and project activities 
13. Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Students enrolled in the BCIS or CIS program, with knowledge of Java, Oracle, MySQL, OOA&D, and Web applications development (PHP and Linux), client server and multi-tier technology, software and databases design, Unix Shell scripting, Networking VMWare or similar virtualization technology, Python, Jupyterlab and Google Colab, Amazon or other cloud resources use for the R&D projects will be preferred.

Prior work experience is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
  • Current knowledge in research methodology for educational purposes.
  • Excellent research skills with the ability to synthesize data/information and develop/deliver findings and recommendations.
  • Proficiency in the use of a variety of computer software applications.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
